Author’s Notes – So, what’s next?

Coming off completing Doing The Oakey Pokey and having a few brief exchanges with readers, I’ve decided to start publishing regular blog posts, most likely on a weekly basis. I have a tendency to disappear in work and life and writing, which sometimes leaves readers guessing the fate of my stories and wondering if/when to expect an update. The main purpose of these blog posts is to keep whoever might be interested in the loop and reassure you I haven’t abandoned any of my fics. 🙂

Doing The Oakey Pokey is my most recent upload and it took me a little over a month to complete the final 3 chapters. There was a lot of back and forth in my own head trying to determine which direction the story should take. I ended up re-writing chapter 2 a couple of times before settling on the published version. It’s been a tough story to wind down and more than once I was tempted to abandon it altogether. But I’ve made a promise to myself to complete all the fics I started so I pushed myself to get it done. I’m happy with the way it turned out, glad I completed it and I’m ready to move on to my next work.

Which is going to be a My Hero Academia One-Shot featuring Momo x Mineta. After spending a month dabbling in the Pokémon fandom, I want to jump into something fresh. In fact, I’m going to be alternating between fandoms. So, while MHA is next, Pokémon will come after that, then maybe another MHA or Naruto, then back to Pokémon etc…

I have a lot more ideas for Pokémon but I’d like to get my current WIPs done before I start on them. I have 1 chapter remaining for Under Covers Investigator, 1 chapter left for May’s Valentine’s Surprise, and 1 chapter left for Once Bitten, Twice Bi. I don’t have a strong preference in which order to complete them, but I figure I’ll do it in order of last updated. Since Under Covers Investigator has been waiting the longest to be updated, I’ll do that first, then I’ll complete May’s Valentine’s Surprise, and since Once Smitten, Twice Bi is the most recently updated, I’ll do it last. If you guys would prefer a different order, let me know and I’ll consider it.

Looking at my current schedule and the amount of time I’ll have to write, I’m setting myself a realistic target – minimum one upload every 2 weeks. If I manage to get more than one piece done in a 14-day window I’ll upload them together.
